Pak-Afhan Jirga declarations to be followed: President

ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan will take all possible measure to implement the decisions taken at the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Peace Jirga held recently in Kabul.He was chairing a high level meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr here Tuesday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Shaukat Aziz was also present in the meeting. Addressing the meeting General Pervez Musharraf expressed his satisfaction on the holding of the Peace Jirga and hoped that involvement of tribal ad religious leaders from both sides of the Pak-Afghan border would help promote peace and security and check illegal border crossings.
He said Pakistan firmly believes in a strong, stable and prosperous Afghanistan, which is not only I the interest of Afghan people but also Pakistan and the entire region.

He said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz co-inaugurated the Jirga session with President Hamid Karzai and he himself visited Kabul despite heavy engagements at home to address the concluding session.

He praised the Interior and other Ministers for their positive contribution in making the Jirga a success.

The Premier on the occasion gave an overview to Pak-Afghan economic cooperation and assistance being extended by Pakistan in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Besides other senior officials, the meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Minister for Culture Ghazi Gulab Jamal, NWFP Governor Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai, Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani and other senior officials.
